Nashville real estate agent and creator of Home on a Nashville Hill Kelly Ladwig sets the stage for her custom home from the moment you turn the key to the front door. She and her wife Suzie and their five fur babies can now call this cozy, Tennessee space home, but they spent plenty of years prior curating what would end up in their perfect dream home. “Suzie and I have lived in just about every neighborhood in Nashville," Kelly says. "While we loved living more urban, we were both wanting more space to be able to spread out and breathe a little bit." So the two settled on buying a 1.4-acre lot in a neighborhood that offered a good combo — a slice of the country while being close to city life.

“I truly love our kitchen,” Kelly says. “Some of my happiest times in this home are standing at the prep space being surrounded by friends and making memories. It’s such a central part of our home and that really translates to anyone who comes over. But ultimately, my favorite space is wherever me, Suzie and 'The Furry Five' are at the same time.”

"[Another] thing I love in our kitchen is the painting of an arrow," Kelly shares. "It was done by a local artist named Jamie Beckwith who did several commissions for our home. We really discussed what this piece should be and signify. And the coolest thing about it is she wrote intentions onto the canvas as she painted. So it feels like there are special wishes for us that protect us."

"I’m from Milwaukee," Kelly says, "and I always loved the original 'silver fox' brick that is so prevalent in old lofts there. I had the opportunity to get the old brick from a building that was being demolished and incorporate it into our home. It’s unique and something no one else has or ever will have. And I think if we ever moved I would miss that more than anything."
