Tiny House Camping: Try Out Living Small on a Tiny Camping Trip

Love the great outdoors but not completely sure roughing it in a tent is your jam? Or maybe you're just interested in seeing if the tiny house phenomenon is for you? Perhaps you are just a design fan looking for a fun getaway close to home? Whatever your reason, the new tiny home camping company Getaway provides a great opportunity to escape the city and stay in a super-cozy and high-design tiny camper in the woods. Getaway currently has eight outposts across the country, from East Coast to West and provides a great chance for city folk to enjoy some off-the-grid time without lugging an enormous amount of gear out into the wild. I personally love nature but don't relish roughing it, so spending a weekend in the Georgia Getaway cabin with my husband, son and our pug Oskar was an incredibly relaxing, restful and fun adventure I have been recommending to all of my Atlanta friends who will listen.

Each Getaway cabin sports a fun old-school name. We had Walter — who I later learned was named after a real-life American war hero — and he was delightful and hospitable. There's outdoor lighting if an evening around the fire pit roasting s'mores is in your plans. Books are also provided in the cabins if you want to kick back and cozy up with a good read. There are currently Getaway escapes located outside Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, Cleveland/Pittsburgh and Washington DC.

Not only does each Getaway camper come equipped with a mini-kitchen including sink, fridge, stovetop and cooking utensils, pots and pans, a decent selection of items like pasta and oatmeal will keep you and your crew from getting hangry if you forgot your vittles. The cabin also comes with linens, towels, shampoo and soap and even dog bowls for your furry buddies.

A fire pit, Adirondack chairs, firewood (provided for a small fee) and a picnic table offer plenty of enticement to get outside for a meal, a chat around the fire or some game time with friends.
