Chelsea DeBoer, Teen Mom 2 reality star and co-host of HGTV’s new series Down Home Fab, says her favorite colors are “black, black, some neutrals and cowhide — I’m counting that as a color.”

When it comes to kitchens, her bold, edgy-meets-glam style is no different. In a recent interview, Chelsea told HGTV there's one design trend she's not the biggest fan of: an all-white kitchen.

Where other designers go neutral, Chelsea layers her spaces with cool personality, natural elements and sleek features. Just check out her chic designs from Season 1 (black granite waterfall islands and all).

“I like a white kitchen, but I try to do something different because everyone does white kitchens,” says Chelsea. “We went into our season and said, ‘We’re not going to do any white kitchens.’ I think we did one, but I wanted to think outside the box" — which is exactly what she and her husband, co-host Cole DeBoer, do. The duo revamps clients’ homes with an elevated, boho-sleek ambiance.

How to Give Your Kitchen the Chelsea Touch

For kitchens that are already all-white, Chelsea suggests a few small upgrades: “Incorporate some hardware that’s going to pop, bring in lots of greenery or some fun bar stools if you have an island,” she says.

Revive Your Cook-Space With Accessories We Love

As for her favorite recent design trend: “What I've been obsessed with ... is checkerboard tile flooring. It looks very elegant,” she says. “I wish we had that somewhere in our house.”
