Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt Build Dream Homes in Season 2
This talented husband-and-wife team approaches real estate differently than most. Mika’s the realtor and Brian’s the developer, but neither are scared to get their hands on some power tools to tackle a project. Together, on the show 100 Day Dream Home, they help homeowners design and build the perfect house from the ground up in 100 days or less. Season 2 was packed with some of Brian and Mika's best projects yet. Let's check out our favorites.

A Contemporary Cottage for Brooklyn Transplants
Prior to relocating from New York City, homeowners Drew and Vanessa Richardson worked remotely with Brian and Mika on the design and build of a new home in Florida. The front exterior of the home boasts large picture windows, an edgy, midcentury-inspired roof and mixed finishes including painted brick and natural wood. A blue front door with modern hardware welcomes guests to this modest abode. Let's look inside.
A Natural Wood Fence Adds Privacy to a Backyard Lanai
Brian and Mika made the most of the small backyard by creating an outdoor living room for the Brooklynites — the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Florida weather. A wooden fence adds privacy and an adjacent brick patio leaves additional room for grilling and entertaining.
A Contemporary Kitchen and Eat-In Dining Area
Drew and Vanessa lucked out with this airy kitchen. The space features lofted ceilings, a large island and lots of seating for dining and entertaining. Contrasting dark, contemporary cabinetry stands out against light walls and stainless steel finishes. Dark wood floors add impact as they flow through the home.
A Great Room, In Progress
Brian and Mika turned this great room into something special for homeowners Trey and Zoe. The engaged couple had long planned for the construction of their new home. They even cleared the land by themselves while living in a trailer on the property! Here, an in-progress shot shows the newly drywalled room, but wait until you see the finishing touches.
A Bright, Welcoming Great Room
Light wall paint, natural wood accents and splashes of blue and gold add finish to the family’s new living area. Mike and Brian installed extra faux beams to the ceiling for added accent. Light curtains diffuse the sunlight over big windows that overlook the porch, while a large fan promises to keep the room comfortable in the heat of the summer.
A Farmhouse With Coastal Appeal
Brian and Mika’s design preferences came to a head when planning the construction of their very own dream home, but the debates and compromises were worthwhile. The exterior of their new home in Tampa boasts a coastal farmhouse vibe, complete with cool gray shutters, board and batten siding and a blue front door. We'll show you around.
A Custom In-Ground Pool With a View
When Brian and Mika’s daughter asked to add a swimming pool, it took some convincing and strategic budgeting, but the couple finally agreed. They added a large in-ground pool off the back of their house, plus a structural screen to surround it without compromising the view. Blue mosaic tiles and mixed stone pavers decorate the inside of the pool and the surrounding area. A raised hot tub offers the best seat in the house.
A Coastal Vibe in a Classic Farmhouse Kitchen
Mika’s coastal vibe rings loud and clear in the family’s new kitchen, even if Brian won on incorporating some iconic farmhouse details. White cabinetry and countertops, stainless accents and light wood floors provide a great canvas to the gray tiled backsplash and large, blue kitchen island. The designers also incorporated lit upper cabinets that add brightness in a creative way.
Modern, Coastal Details in the Kleinschmidt’s Great Room
Coastal elements and accessories flow through Brian and Mika's living room. A comfortable sectional, midcentury horseshoe chairs and round accent tables add function. The couple installed natural wood floors throughout the home, adding continuity and warmth. A large pendant light hangs over the home’s entryway, while smaller, coordinating pendant lights hang over the kitchen island to tie the open concept space together.
A Main Suite Bathroom Spa
Brian and Mika agreed that their dream home should have a great main suite and spa-like bathroom. Flanked with floor-to-ceiling white tiles and white grout, the main bathroom is bright and airy. A rustic wooden bench adds storage and pulls in Brian’s desired farmhouse vibe to marry Mika’s modern, coastal style.
A Harlem Globetrotter's Dream Home Under Construction
Herb Forbes, an 18-year Harlem Globetrotter veteran, wanted to go big when creating a new home for him and his wife Elena — and this picture of their living room, taken during the construction, shows just how big! Brian and Mika worked with teams of professionals on a large scale for this project, sometimes inviting many crews into the home at once to keep timelines on track.
A Two-Story Great Room
Exposed studs in a room one week, drywalled and mudded walls the next. Herb and Elena's dream home demonstrates the power of Brian and Mika's great construction plan. Their new great room is finished with comfortable seating and woven accessories, including a gallery of woven trays installed over low, open shelving. A contemporary pendant hangs from the second story to light the entryway.
A Finished Garage Doubles as a Basketball Court
For Herb and Elena, an indoor basketball gym was a must-have. Luckily, Brian and Mika knew just the spot: the garage. Obviously, a basketball court can't fit into a traditional-sized garage, so the couple lofted the ceiling and installed a garage door that wouldn't fold overhead when opened. Durable floor tiles (sure to stand up to all of Herb's tricks) and repurposed gym lockers bring style and function.
A Modern Farmhouse With a Rustic Facade
Jaclyn and Guy Cheatham lived in six different houses over the course of 10 years while trying to find the perfect fit for them and their two boys. The couple knew exactly what they wanted and none of their previous homes were cutting it. So, they turned to Brian and Mika, who were able to help deliver a farmhouse-inspired dream home, complete with a porch and a backyard outdoor living space.
Herringbone Tile Installation in the Bathroom
Brian and Mika got their hands dirty during this construction. Brian himself spent time laying herringbone tile with precision in a main bathroom. Wait until you see the finished handiwork!
A Modern, Rustic Main Bedroom
The main bathroom in Jaclyn and Guy’s new home features durable tile floors designed to look like rustic wood, a freestanding soaking bathtub with oil-rubbed bronze hardware and a standing shower that runs the full length of the wall. Pony walls topped with glass divide the room without compromising natural light. Ornate tile decorates the shower while woven accessories pull it all together.
A Bold Blue Kitchen Island in a Farmhouse-Inspired Kitchen
Brian and Mika went with wood-look tile floors in the kitchen for both style and durability. A dark blue island boasts comfortable, counter-height seating for the family. Farmhouse-inspired details — glass pendant lights over the island, oil-rubbed bronze hardware and pipe shelving — make the space extra cozy.
A Board and Batten Dream Home on a Special Lot
Gabby and Foster Porter planned to build their future home on a sentimental piece of family property — made even more sentimental by a new tiny family member. Brian and Mika chose a white board and batten exterior with a dark roof and black window trim for the new family of three. To further enhance curb appeal, they landscaped the yard and installed a charming walkway that leads up to the front door.
A Classic Living Room Filled With Natural Light
Styling a new build isn’t always easy, but Brian and Mika got the Porter’s new dream home right with a mixture of traditional and contemporary accessories. Throughout the process, they focused on making it a livable open concept space. A wall of fixed-pane windows and French doors open to connect the indoor living space with the outdoor patio, enhancing the family’s ability to entertain and host their grandkids.
