Rainbow Pom-Pom Wreath for Pride Month
Show your pride or support with an easy, beautiful rainbow pom-pom wreath that represents all the colors of the Pride flag. For this project, you'll need: a 15-inch foam wreath, sharp scissors, yarn in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet and white, scissors, and 2-inch floral pins.
Step 1: Cut the Wreath Form
Use a sharp knife to cut off about 1/4 of the wreath form, so it resembles the shape of a rainbow shape.
Step 2: Make a Yarn Pom-Pom
Make a yarn pom-pom by wrapping the yarn around your hand about 150 times.
Step 2: Make a Yarn Pom-Pom
Once you've finished wrapping the yarn around your hand, carefully pull the yarn off your hand, and tie a strand of yarn around the center of the pom-pom tightly.
Tip: If you have an extra person to help, have them place their finger in the center of the pom-pom as you make a knot to keep it tight.
Step 2: Make a Yarn Pom-Pom
Cut the loops, and trim the yarn until you get the desired pom-pom shape and size.
Step 2: Make a Yarn Pom-Pom
Make pom-poms using the colors of the Pride flag. We made about five to six of each color to fit our wreath form. Each color symbolizes something different: red represents life, orange represents healing, yellow represents sunshine, green represents nature, blue represents harmony, and purple represents spirit.
Step 3: Make Pom-Pom Clouds
Once you've finished making the rainbow pom-poms, make clouds out of white yarn. We used different shades of white to best resemble clouds, and we varied them in size. We wrapped the yarn around our hand about 150 times for the larger pom-poms, 100 times for the medium ones, and 50-75 times for the smaller ones.
Tip: Leave the tails on the clouds so you can tie them to the form later.
Step 4: Arrange the Pom-Poms
Once you've made all your pom-poms, arrange them in the correct order around the form (ROY G. BIV it).
Step 5: Attach Pom-Poms
Use floral pins to attach the pom-poms to the wreath form. Continue this throughout the wreath form until you've pinned all your colors. Tie the white pom-poms to each end of the wreath form using the tails. Layer them to create the cloud effect, and use floral pins to help keep them secure.
Step 6: Display It!
Hang on your front door to show your pride or support.
