Small but mighty, painted trim is an easy (and affordable!) way to make a big impact in your home. Bright colors, moody hues or even classic black and white can be the cherry on top of an already fabulous room. Whether it's exterior trim, window frames, baseboards or crown molding, here's how you can make the most of your home's beautiful features, with just paint.

Spunky reddish-orange (Habanero Pepper by Benjamin Moore) built-ins and window trim give this playful space from HGTV Magazine major style points. Fabric-covered wood cornices above the windows are a nice complement to the geometric windowpanes below. Sky blue walls mellow out the bolder colors.

The designers at Massucco Warner Miller took inspiration from the colors in the wallpaper and painted the trim of this entry space a similar hue. Green and gold paper, with a gilded tiger print, inspired the emerald green trim work. Putting color on the stair risers and spindles, too, makes even more of an impact.

Instead of putting the focus on walls with splashy paper or bright paint color, try making a statement by painting the trim a bold hue, like in this head-turning kitchen. A little bit of deep turquoise (Randolph Blue by Benjamin Moore) goes a long way around the doors and ceiling and on the hood and cabinetry, while a butcher block-topped island helps ground the space.
