Mother's Day Kids' Craft: Hand-Painted Wooden Bracelets
From fingerprints to polka dots and stripes, the kids can get creative personalizing these wooden bracelets just for Mom.
Materials Needed
- wooden bracelets in various sizes
- small paintbrush
- craft paint
- cotton swabs
- washi or masking tape
- Mother's Day gift tag printable
Technique 1: Stripes
Use washi or masking tape to section off the bracelet where desired (Image 1). Using a paintbrush, paint the sections of the wooden bracelet over the tape edges to create a clean line (Image 2). Let dry, then remove the tape (Image 3).
Technique 2: Fingerprints
Place small dollops of four colors of paint on a paper plate or sheet of waxed paper. Starting with the first color, dip a fingertip into paint and stamp randomly on the outside of the wooden bracelet (Image 1). Repeat with the remaining three colors. Next, use the second color to add more fingerprints, filling in between the first color. Repeat with third and fourth colors, overlapping fingerprints occasionally to create the desired effect (Image 2).
Technique 3: Polka Dots
Use the same technique as the fingerprint method, but use a cotton swab to apply each paint color to create pint-sized polka dots (Image 1). Once you finish decorating the bracelets, tie on our printable Mother's Day gift tag and present to Mom (Image 2).
