Mother's Day Kids' Craft: Fingerprint Table Runner
Get the kids involved in crafting and decorating for Mother's Day brunch by personalizing a plain white table runner with colorful fingerprints.
Materials Needed
- white table runner
- craft paint in four coordinating colors
Gather Materials
Find a simple white cotton table runner that's the appropriate size for your table. Select four paint colors that coordinate with your Mother's Day table setting.
Add Fingerprints
Squeeze a small amount of each paint color on a disposable surface like a paper plate, a piece of wax paper or foil. Begin by dipping fingertips in paint and stamping on fabric runner, one color at a time (Image 1). Allow a few minutes to dry in between each color. Continue to add fingerprints until you have a large number of overlapping random prints (Image 2). Tip: Add the majority of the fingerprints to the ends of the table runner and spread them out to be a little more scattered as you work toward the center of the runner.
Finish and Display
Allow to dry completely and then place your runner down the middle of the table for the perfect hand-painted Mother's Day table accent.
