Mason Jar Wildflower Wedding Favors
One of the most important ways to make your guests feel special on your wedding day is to delight them with a clever, fun and unique wedding favor. Handmade wedding favors are often the ones that are most treasured and also the most creative. I have to say that my all-time favorite favors are ones that have more than just a single use.
I wanted to create a wedding favor with a garden theme. Years ago, I was married in a lovely garden. It was overflowing with blooms. To this day, no matter which garden I am in, certain blooms and fragrances in the air take me back to that special day.
Inspired by my own wedding memory,I thought it would be nice for guests to bring some blooms home in the form of seeds. At my local garden center, I found a lovely canister of wildflower seeds containing California poppies, daisies, bird's eye, candytuft, and Clarkia to name a few. What a lovely idea, to give the gift of seeds to friends and family as a wedding favor.
I packaged the wildflower seeds in vintage style jelly jars. After the seeds are planted, the jelly jar can be used to store just about anything. It can be put to use in the kitchen, hold a bouquet of fresh picked flowers, store dried herbs or even more seeds! On the top of the jar, I created a handmade felted flower. The flowers came together rather quickly and added yet another special touch to this homemade favor. With a safety pin, this flower can live another life on the lapel of your coat. Yet, my favorite part of this favor is the label. I think it pretty much sums up the entire wedding day: love blooms.
