We're welcoming another star into the HGTV fam! Jonthan Scott (Brother vs. Brother and Property Brothers: Forever Home) is engaged to actress and girlfriend of four years Zooey Deschanel. With a little help from Zooey’s kids, Elsie and Charlie, Jonathan pulled off popping the ultimate question on August 12, 2023, during a visit to Scotland.

“Forever starts now,” the couple captioned their Instagram announcement. The joint post features the duo’s smiling faces as well as Zooey’s colorful and unique engagement ring, which boasts three stones of varying hues in a flower pattern. Knowing Jonathan’s eye for design, we like to think he spent ample time working with a jeweler to create an engagement ring that reflects Zooey’s vibrant personality perfectly.

News of their engagement comes four years into their relationship. The couple first met while filming a Carpool Karaoke segment for The Late Late Show With James Corden. Soon afterwards, they were spotted holding hands around Los Angeles and eventually confirmed their relationship. Zooey has appeared on HGTV alongside Jonathan in her own episode of Celebrity IOU where she renovated her best friend's home. Last year, the duo also starred in HGTV’s White House Christmas 2022 special.

While Zooey and Jonathan’s engagement makes Zooey an almost-official member of the Scott family — joining Drew Scott's wife Linda Phan and JD Scott's wife Annalee Belle — it seems the brothers had already accepted her as one of their own. On August 3, eldest Scott bro JD commented on one of Zooey’s Instagram posts with an endearing, sibling-like remark: “I love that we have another solid weirdo in the family now.”

We can't wait to see more of Zooey and Jonathan’s antics on HGTV, but in the meantime, we’re hoping for a Linda-Zooey spin-off. The Property Wives, anyone?
