Jenny and Dave Marrs Open Their Very Own Store
The space was an old bank until HGTV's Fixer to Fabulous duo got their hands on it. Shopping spree at Marrs Mercantile, anyone?
Hosts of HGTV’s Fixer to Fabulous, Jenny and Dave Marrs, have a love for revamping houses in their hometown of Bentonville, Arkansas, but it doesn’t stop there.
On a recent episode, Jenny and Dave revealed their newest fixer-upper endeavor: an old bank on the downtown strip of Centerton, Arkansas — Bentonville’s neighboring town. The do-it-all reno experts transformed the space (which was built in 1905) into Marrs Mercantile, a boutique where the community can gather and shop for goods made by their friends and neighbors.
The once dilapidated space filled with collapsing tile ceilings and covered up brick was transformed into a quaint (and charming, of course) shop with historical influences and artisan touches, including a steel vault bathroom door and custom furniture handmade by Dave. “We’re really trying to bring the nostalgia back to main street with this mercantile,” said Dave during the reveal on HGTV. And they most certainy are: Visitors can shop for locally sourced goods and brand favorites Jenny used in Season 4 renovations, along with curated foods and drinks Dave and Jenny love. Most of the inventory will rotate throughout the year and be offered in limited quantities.
“We’re really focused on highlighting local artists and having them in our store, and we want to make this a community-wide mercantile,” added Jenny. “We want to have people that live here and work here in our store.”
To make the mercantile even more of a neighborhood hangout, Jenny and Dave created a patio complete with a playground, picnic tables and an old ice cream truck they saved and turned into a food truck that sells baked goods and hot chocolate. Be right back — we're heading to Centerton real quick.
Of course, the Marrs invited more members of the HGTV fam out to Arkansas to help with the reno. “We had the best time painting this mural," Keith Bynum of Bargain Block told his followers on Instagram. "I’m so proud to be a part of this.”
On opening day, Jenny and Dave were greeted with a line of locals ready to step inside the refurbed bank and celebrate Marrs Mercantile.
“People who have lived here their whole lives have been waiting for something to come into this space,” said Jenny. “That means a lot, and that’s why we did it.”
