How to Make Giant Christmas Ornaments
Light up your exterior entryway with these fun and festive oversized ornaments.
Materials Needed
- acrylic light fixture globe
- 10' battery-operated string lights
- (1) 28-ounce plastic food storage bowl
- matte gold spray paint (or desired color)
- craft knife
- (1) #6 1/4" screw eye
- aquarium pebbles or stones
- white duct tape
Prep Ornament Top
A plastic food storage bowl makes a great ornament top. Cut a notch in the center of the bowl's bottom using a craft knife, then push a screw eye into the notch.

Paint Ornament Top
Spray-paint the ornament top with a festive color or metallic finish.

Add Pebbles
Add aquarium pebbles or stones to the bottom of the globe to help it sit upright.

Add String Lights
Add battery-operated string lights to the globe for a festive nighttime glow.

Create Hinge
Secure the ornament topper to the globe by creating a hinge using white duct tape. Cut a 4-inch piece of tape and connect the inside of the globe to the inside of the ornament top. This allows easy access to the string lights when you want to turn them on or off.

Finish
Repeat steps one through five to make more ornaments. Display the finished ornaments in an evergreen nest on your exterior entryway steps or along the sidewalk to create the perfect holiday welcoming for guests all season long.
