How to Make a Custom T-Shirt for Father's Day
Deck your dad out in some new duds he’ll be proud to wear with our free, downloadable pattern and easy instructions.
Materials Needed:
- image transfer sheets for light fabric
- inkjet printer
- iron and ironing board
- scissors
- light-colored T-shirt
- Father's Day T-shirt pattern printable
Print It
Download our free Father's Day pattern and print it on regular paper first to check the size and placement. Load your printer with fabric paper for light fabrics and follow the package instructions to ensure the paper is facing the correct way in the print tray. Allow to dry completely once printed.
Cut It Out
Trim closely around the outside edge of the pattern. This will keep more of the T-shirt exposed and prevent the "white box" that occurs with iron-on transfers.
Iron It On
Set iron to the cotton setting (no steam). Place transfer paper in the desired area of the shirt, image side down. Press iron onto the transfer paper for 20-25 seconds, covering the entire area (Image 1). Wait 2 to 3 minutes until paper has cooled, then peel off backing to reveal the transferred design.
