Drew Scott Seizes the Win in Season 7 'Brother Vs Brother' Finale
Both of the Brothers' luxury-laden transformations are absolutely stunning in this season's Brother Vs. Brother competition, but LA resident Drew's "home court advantage" rings true as he declares multiple victories and clinches the overall win.

In each season of HGTV's Brother Vs. Brother, Drew and Jonathan Scott spend weeks transforming two homes, each endeavoring to top the other in space-by-space transformations — from living rooms, kitchens and bedroom suites to guest, bonus and outdoors spaces. In each six-episode arc, the focus is on a specific city or location, and each phase or challenge in the competition is a story unto itself.
But in the end it's the buyers, and the Brothers' ability to read their preferences, that determine which Scott brother is the season's winner. The renovated home that turns the largest profit upon resale determines the win, with the proceeds being donated to a carefully selected charity.
This year, despite some initial setbacks, Mr. Drew Scott was able to bend things in his favor — with a net profit that exceeded Brother Jonathan's entry by a more-than-respectable margin of $200,000.
As we announced back in September, 2020's season-seven competition — the BvB "Hollywood edition" — is set in LA's historic Hancock Park. It's a beautiful and classic residential neighborhood that just happens to be where brother Drew Scott and his bride Linda make their home, in a custom-renovated historic house of their own.

This year each Brother purchased a vintage but neglected mansion in Hancock Park. Each spacious home had a purchase price of over $2 million. Each came with classic Hollywood golden-era features that offered potential for restoration — and for value added when it's time to sell.
In an ongoing Bro Vs. Bro tradition, each house was christened with a colorful nickname at the outset of the competition. Jonathan's project house was dubbed "The House Next Door" — in deference to the fact that it's literally right next door to Drew's own home. (Insert "there goes the neighborhood" joke here.) Drew's own project house got the title of "The Corner Chateau" owing to its corner-lot location and Euro-Spanish style architecture.
Each Brother was allotted a total renovation budget in close proximity to the purchase price — $2 million. It's an extravagant budget to be sure, but the stakes as well as potential payoffs are high in this kind of real estate market and with renovations of this scale.
The strategy of how each competitor allocates his predetermined budget over the various spaces and aspects of the restoration, and how deftly each executes his transformation, is the art and essence of this contest.
As always, the Brothers' trademark sibling rivalry was on full display this time around, and the competition in the individual challenges was intense. Here's how it played out.
Jonathan kicked things off with a win in the living room and front entry challenge and continued his streak with a win in the kitchen and dining room competition. Drew then evened things up with back-to-back wins in the bonus-space and main bedroom suite challenges. Jonathan bounced back in round five with the guest- and extra-bedroom competition. The final phase focused on exteriors and outdoor spaces but was less a specific challenge than an opportunity to boost each home's aesthetic beauty and curb appeal — not to mention making each more enticing to buyers in this upscale market.
To keep things even more interesting, the winner in each challenge is selected by an HGTV-celebrity guest judge with design chops of their own. Judges this year included Maureen McCormick (of A Very Brady Renovation and upcoming series Frozen in Time fame — and, of course, not forgetting the certifiably iconic original Brady Bunch), Dan Vickery (co-host of Frozen in Time), Breegan Jane (star of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition), Jasmine Roth (host of Help! I Wrecked My House and Hidden Potential), and Orlando Soria (of new HGTV series Build Me Up). With one noteworthy exception, the judges didn't know which Brother was owner/designer of the houses they were judging until after they had rendered their decision. (The one exception: Orlando was brought back for a surprise encore stint as judge in round five — in a sly attempt by Drew to tip the scales in his favor.)
In the end, despite significant setbacks, unexpected expenses, expanding renovations — and initially bombing two of the weekly challenges — underdog Drew Scott gleefully seized the title of champion from Jonathan during the season-seven final episode
Drew also snagged another exclusive bragging right with his victory. His Hancock Park home netted the highest added value in series' history. The profit margin of his gorgeously renovated "Corner Chateau" handily defeated Jonathan’s efforts at his "House Next Door" by a whopping $200,000. A portion of the proceeds from the Brother vs. Brother home sales will provide up to 100,000 meals to Turn Up! Fight Hunger — a Discovery partnership with No Kid Hungry that helps solve childhood hunger.
"It feels so amazing to win. I would’ve never lived it down if Jonathan beat me this time," said Drew. "I sold the home for a very decent profit, won back my title, and I am so happy to put a portion of the proceeds toward a good cause. To me, giving back is just as important as winning."
"I don’t like losing, especially to Drew, because now I won’t hear the end of it" Jonathan added. "However, in the end it’s gratifying that the results of our competition will help kids in need.”
