Spring is right around the corner which means it's time to inject fresh color into your decor. And with St. Patrick’s Day coming soon as well, this easy DIY wreath might be just what you need. Construction paper in ROYGBIV shades pair with sparkly gold glitter paper and a few four-leaf clovers for a fun and interactive craft project. Because this wreath is made of paper, it's best for indoor use or on a covered porch. So, gather the kids and get crafting this St. Paddy's wreath for a little good luck.

Materials Needed

  • rainbow-colored construction paper
  • gold glitter paper
  • foam core board
  • four leaf clover template
  • double-sided tape
  • scissors
  • craft knife
  • ruler
  • pencil
  • string or twine

Create Wreath Form

To make a 12-inch wreath, use foam core and measure 6 inches in from all directions to find the center (Image 1). To draw an even circle, make a loop in the string and measure a 6-inch length. Fit the loop in the string around a pencil. Pressing the opposite end of the string to the center point, swing the pencil around to draw a circle (Image 2). Next, cut the circle out with a craft knife (Image 3). Shorten the length of the string to 4 inches and draw a smaller circle (Image 4). Finally, cut out the inner circle to form the wreath (Image 5).

Cut Paper

Cut the rainbow-colored and gold glitter paper into 1-1/2" x 4" strips. You'll need two strips of red and gold and four strips of the remaining colors.

Attach Paper to Wreath

Arrange the paper strips in a rainbow pattern to determine the correct spacing (Image 1). Attach the red and gold strips with double-sided tape first at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 positions on a clock face (Image 2). Then, affix each paper strip one by one, overlapping as you go (Image 3).

Create Clovers

Once the paper strips are added, trace 10 four-leaf clovers on green construction paper and cut them out with scissors.
