How Seasonal Color Analysis Can Work in Your Home

The suddenly trendy-again concept of seasonal color analysis matches hair color, skin tone and eye color to the colors that look best on you. It's an idea that was first popularized in the '80s thanks to Carole Jackson’s book Color Me Beautiful. If you want to go straight to the source, you can find the book here.

But we think that interior design is also a great place to put color analysis into action. In traditional color analysis, color schemes are divided into seasons: autumn, winter, spring and summer. An array of subcategories go deeper to match your look to the appropriate seasonal color family: Deep Winter, Cool Winter, Clear Winter; Clear Spring, Warm Spring, Light Spring; Light Summer, Cool Summer, Soft Summer; Deep Autumn, Warm Autumn and Soft Autumn.

We've taken that same formula to determine the rooms that best suit you, that not only make you look great but also feel great. Read on for HGTV's picks of rooms for every color season.

Warm Autumn

Warm golden undertones define the Warm Autumn color palette. Think iconic fall colors like ruby red and evergreen mixed with shades of brown. You can use creams and beiges for balance and then add interest with a strong infusion of color as with the rich rust chair shown here.

Julia Roberts and Julianne Moore are examples of women with Warm Autumn skin tones and hair color.
