Here's How Chelsea DeBoer Landed a Show on HGTV
The Teen Mom 2 star totally manifested HGTV's Down Home Fab — and she has the receipts to prove it.
The age-old mantra we use when it comes to most of life's important milestones — promotions, first dates, seconds for dessert — generally goes: "If you want something, ask for it."
But does this approach actually work? Yes, apparently.
Case in point: Chelsea DeBoer.

It seems the host of HGTV’s Down Home Fab knew she was destined to have a show about renovating homes. Motivated by the success of their own home reno, Chelsea and her husband co-host, Cole DeBoer, began taking on clients. That's when she decided to reach out to HGTV via Instagram.
She recently shared the direct message (dated March 1, 2020) on her social platforms. “I feel like HGTV is missing out on some quality TV by not following our home building adventures 😂," she wrote back in 2020. "We’re ready to make the transition from mtv whenever you guys are lol!”
Two years later, the DeBoers announced their new HGTV show via Instagram. A few months later the series was christened Down Home Fab — and the rest, as they say, was history.
Season 1 of Down home Fab was full of bold boho designs, cute and fuzzy farm animals and adorable moments from the DeBoer family. “Can’t believe last night was the Down Home Fab season FINALE. Wooooow. Had a blast, learned a lot, stayed so grateful,” Chelsea told her followers.
In February, HGTV announced the show had been renewed for a second season. The eight episodes are slated to premiere in early 2024.
HGTV producers surprised Chelsea and Cole with the news and filmed their reactions — which were, unsurprisingly, priceless. “I’m shaking. You guys have no idea how much this means to us,” said Chelsea. “We couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much. It’s a dream come true. It really is,” said Cole.
