Located in the heart of Buckhead, the Kimpton Sylvan Hotel is an adaptive reuse of an original 1950s-era building. Re-envisioned as a contemporary, sophisticated retreat, the hotel boasts gorgeous, comfortable guest rooms, as well as a supper club, outdoor garden bar and this vibrant rooftop lounge. St. Julep, their rooftop cocktail bar, sits nine stories above Atlanta and offers panoramic views of the city. Hip and eclectic, the space has a mix of atypical seating, unforgettable artwork and a bold color palette.

Nodding to the building’s mid-century modern history, the guest rooms put a spotlight on simple, streamlined furniture silhouettes. A muted scheme of black, white and green blend with woods and leathers, allowing the light fixtures and custom artwork to shine.

Originally built in 1896, Stonehurst Place is a beautiful part of Atlanta’s history and one of the few Shingle-Style homes in the area, since the architecture originated in New England. Locally quarried granite was utilized as the house’s hilltop foundation, leading to its name: Stonehurst means “stone on a hill.” Former owner Barb Shadomy renovated the home with an eye to preserve the history and much of its original form so that it could welcome guests as a bed and breakfast in 2008.
