Battle on the Beach: Team Alison

For the second season of Battle on the Beach, host of Windy City Rehab Alison Victoria mentored couple Corey and Paige Cyr of Cyriously Living. From Alberta, Canada, the couple has been married for three years and have flipped five homes together. “She does more of the design aspect, and the flip and work are my part of the project,” said Corey. This project isn’t bigger than ones they’ve tackled before, but the timeline is more intense. "Being in real estate, the goal is for the home to appraise higher, so I have that dialed in,” explained Paige.

The Teams: Season 2

Corey and Paige went up against two other strong teams: Roosevelt and Brandyn, a father-son duo mentored by Taniya Nayak of Built It Forward, and business partners Wally and Jacqueline, who teamed up with Ty Pennington of Rock the Block. Each team had six weeks to renovate a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house. The homes had a starting value of $515,000, and the teams were given $80,000 to see who could add the most value to their homes.

The Kitchen Challenge, Before

It was time for that room-splitting peninsula to go. When the couple explained their plan — open up the space, move the dishwasher, install an under-counter microwave and trade out the door on the pantry for a chic arch — Alison said they were reading her mind.

The Kitchen Challenge, After

Corey and Paige kept a mostly neutral color palette with white cabinets and countertops. They maximized the ocean view by moving the sink to a center island, which is paired with tall metal barstools for bonus seating. Though a risk, they removed the large window and installed a custom built-in with a wine rack and fridge. A large jute rug grounds the dining area, while a natural-wood grain table and Windsor chairs create a warm, inviting space.
