If you or someone you're traveling with uses a wheelchair, it can be challenging to find information about whether your destination is suitable for your needs. We scoured Airbnb and Vrbo — and asked the vacation experts there for their favorite suggestions — to find these stunning homes that were all built with wheelchair access in mind.

Unless we've noted otherwise, these homes are all fully accessible to wheelchairs, meaning even the second floor — or third, or fourth, in some cases — isn't out of reach. Many of these homes were intentionally designed to cater to people who use wheelchairs, and you can tell from the listings that the hosts have put a lot of thought and care into making welcoming spaces for people with all abilities. And as an extra bonus, nearly all of these have gorgeous views right from the windows, too.

From $65/night

This delightful studio is hidden in the forest of Putney, Vt., just a few minutes from wooded trails and a dairy farm nearby where you can buy fresh cheese. This cabin is a great place to stay if you like watching for wildlife from the windows — the host writes that they often see fox, deer, a variety of birds and even the occasional bear roaming the property.

With space to sleep 12 people, this large home is right on the Delaware River and fully wheelchair-accessible. An elevator reaches all four floors of the home, and one of the bathrooms and the deck overlooking the river are suitable for wheelchairs as well. The owner, Joan, says previous guests have rented Hoyer lifts and had them delivered to the house to help family members into and out of bed and is extremely responsive and happy to answer any questions about the property. She has a similar house a mile up the road, so if you're planning a large family event far enough in advance, you may be able to rent both so everyone can stay close by.
